As a Data Engineer at Mediaan, you are part of our Data & Intelligence team that helps our clients in every phase of becoming or being a data-driven organization. In this role, you are the expert in storing and moving data. Your tasks involve designing & implementing big data streaming solutions and data lakes so that customers can manage their data in the most efficient and secure way.

As a Data Engineer at Mediaan, you are part of our Data & Intelligence team that helps our customers in every phase of becoming or being a data-driven organization. Especially for clients that are experiencing growing amounts of data, clients that need faster insights, and/or a mingling of operational and reporting requirements (multiple purposes for the same source data). Solely traditional data warehousing is no longer adequate. Therefore, Mediaan offers modern big data streaming solutions.

In this role, you are the expert in storing and moving data. You will be designing and implementing big data streaming solutions and data lakes so that customers can manage their data in the most efficient and secure way. This solution enables many purposes for the same data such as:

  • Operational monitoring & alerting
  • Machine learning
  • (Near) real-time analytics & visualization
  • Data warehousing & reporting

ARE YOU THE ONE?

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent

  • You have at least 3 years of hands-on experience in big data engineering

  • You are a committed team player with good communication skills

  • You have a positive mentality and are a problem-solver

  • You are ambitious, curious and fascinated by technology

  • You are willing to share your knowledge with Mediaan colleagues with less experience in the area

  • You are fluent in a programming language applicable to data engineering like Scala, Python and/or Java

  • You have experience with at least one of the major cloud environments: Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS or Google Cloud Platform

  • You have experience with big data tools/platforms like Spark, Kafka, Airflow and/or Hadoop

  • You have experience with NoSQL databases like Cassandra, Hbase and/or MongoDB

  • You have experience with monitoring & alerting tools/platforms like Kibana and Grafana, e.g. for managing performance and security

  • You have extensive knowledge in at least one of the following fields: setting up a data pipeline, deployment of machine learning models, designing a big data infrastructure, or leading software engineering projects. Experience with data warehousing/ETL processes is considered a plus

  • You are aware of the best practices when it comes to developing software as a team (version control, Agile/Scrum, CI/CD, etc)

  • You are aware of the best practices regarding data security & privacy

  • You have a work permit to work within the EU

  • You are fluent in English. Knowledge of Dutch or German is considered a plus

    2. GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER

    You will come over to our office for a first ‘get to know each other’ talk.  During this meeting, our HR employee + one of our technical colleagues will be present.

    3. SECOND INTERVIEW

    Good news! The first interview has been very satisfying on both sides and we are one step further. In the second meeting, you will meet our business line manager and your expertise and communication skills will be the central topic of our talk.

    4. CONTRACT PROPOSAL

    During your 3rd visit, you will meet our managing director and he will make you an offer that you, hopefully, can not refuse.

    5. WELCOME!

    You will visit us one last time to sign your contract. Welcome at Mediaan!
