At Mediaan, we use data science to solve real-world problems, and each solution requires a great deal of innovation, creativity, and research. Do you want to be involved in this process and showcase the cutting-edge aspect of data science? If so, then you have come to the right place! As a data science intern at Mediaan, you will work alongside our experienced colleagues to bring custom solutions to life. Unfortunately, the positions for the fall semester in 2021 have been fulfilled, this internship will be available again from February 2022 onwards.

As a data science intern, you will help us build custom solutions and machine learning models. Your responsibilities will include:
Gathering the necessary data to develop and validate the solution
Implement the solution and ensure others can use it
Research, experiment, and compare different approaches
Investigate and consider important aspects such as fairness and privacy
We are currently focusing on two core areas:
Computer Vision
Our customers range from transport companies needing to monitor secure areas to farmers tracking the well-being of livestock. Our models need to work on live feeds, and therefore annotating data and creating scalable models are challenges.
Natural Language Processing
Our customers deal with inputs ranging from documents to tweets to call center conversations. Our solutions need to account for multiple languages (i.e. Dutch, English, German, French) and cater to specific domains such as health insurance lingo or legal terminology.

You are following a master in Data Science or related field
You are result-oriented and a problem solver
You have programming experience with Python
You are passionate about artificial intelligence and follow the latest news about the field
You are a real team player
You are willing to continually update your expertise and share your knowledge with your colleagues
You have good communication skills as you will join a team of more than 15 data scientists
You have a working permit within the EU
You are fluent in English. Knowledge of Dutch or German is considered a plus
